Interview Tip 4 of 10: Dress for the Job You Want

The adage “dress for the job you want” exists for a reason. If you’re aiming for an office job, you want to dress as though you would be asked to start that very day.

There might be some exceptions to this. For instance, if you’re applying to be a lifeguard or something similar, maybe don’t arrive to the interview in your swimsuit. But scope that out ahead of time.

But, generally speaking…

What Not to Wear:
Don’t wear jeans, yoga pants, sweats, a tank top, or a hoodie unless you’re specifically told to do so.

What to Do:

  • Be confident.

  • Err on the side of dressing more conservatively.

  • And this might seem like a no-brainer, but don’t go in with greasy hair. I say it because I’ve seen it.

You got this!
